Advanced Turf FAQs

How will the Advanced Turf (ATS300) rootzone arrive on site, can it be stockpiled and how do we install it?
The pre-blended rootzone is bulk loaded into site and can be stockpiled. For advice about this, plus all handling and installation procedures you should refer to our Installation advice literature or contact Netlon.

What is the maximum load bearing capacity of Advanced Turf?
This is generally site and application specific, but as you can see from our Case studies , Product Selector and Design literature, HGV's, Helicopters and Fairgrounds are not a problem on Advanced Turf.

Do we need to install drainage below the Advanced Turf system?
The ATS rootzone is free draining, therefore it is recommended that some form of simple pipe drainage system be provided to enable it to escape to an outfall. Refer to our Design literature for typical designs or contact Netlon for advice.

What maintenance is required?
Standard turfgrass maintenance should be carried out on Advanced Turf and due to the 'unique compaction resistance' of the system, deep aeration practices can be significantly reduced and potentially omitted. Fertiliser requirements may be slightly increased due to the free-draining capacity of the rootzone.

Do we need edgings to retain the ATS rootzone, and how do we delineate the edges of the reinforced area?
Edging boards or kerbs can be used to both retain and delineate the edges, but are not always required, as a simple battered edge can be left on the system where it abutts a grassed area. Other methods of delineating the edges can be found on our Advanced Turf Design guidance literature or specific advice can be obtained from Netlon Turf Systems.

What exactly do we receive from Netlon when the product is delivered to site?
If your order is for the full Advanced Turf System, then we will provide all ATS components that are required for the construction that are above the sub-base layers, including the seed or washed turf and the installation fertiliser. Details of these components and the way in which they are delivered can be found on our Advanced Turf installation guidance.
